-Organize paper according to MLA guidelines
-Complete Works Cited page
Step 1: Works Cited
-This may feel a little out of order, but the first thing you need to do is complete the Works Cited page. You need to have at least three sources. I also encourage you to make one of your sources from a printed material.
-Open a new Word document and save it separately from your paper. (You can copy and paste it in at the end!)
-Read pages 370 and look at the examples on page 363.
-If you are still uncertain about how to cite your specific source, look at page 380-384. *PLEASE NOTE* MLA no longer uses the URL as part of the citation. Example:

Step 2: MLA Format
After you complete your Works Cited page, set up a new Word document and begin setting up your paper.
-Review the sample paper, which begins on page 357 in your Write Source book.
-You MUST have the same style heading, page number, font, etc. as the example.
-This paper does NOT need a title page or outline.

Step 3: Thesis and Introduction
-Review page 371, which should help in writing your thesis.
-Remember that the thesis is the main idea of the whole paper! You should choose one that is specific but that offers room to add lots of detail in the body of your paper.
-Also, you need to summarize your information from your notecards in no more than five sentences. This will complete your introductory paragraph.

Step 4: Body and Conclusion
-Begin writing your rough draft. You should organize your paper according to the questions you asked on your Gathering Grid.
-The entire paper should be 2-3 pages typed (not including the Works Cited page).
-The paper should follow the outline of introductory paragraph, 5-7 body paragraphs, closing paragraphs.
-EVERY paragraph and/or EVERY quotation should have an in-text citation. Don't remember what that is? See page 374 for more information.
-For more help in writing the body of your paper, check out page 376.
***SPECIAL NOTE*** You must PARAPHRASE, not PLAGIARIZE. Return to Friday's webpage for a reminder on what that means!

Other important info:
-Do NOT use 1st or 2nd person point of view...that means no "you" or "I."
-You should NOT include opinions in this paper--this is to define and explain your topic, nothing more.
-DO NOT copy and paste or other use types of plagiarism. That is a quick route to a ZERO!
-Bring change to class tomorrow. You will need to print approximately six pages at the end of the class period.
